Road to AFCON 2013

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will begin their quest for a place at the 2013 edition of the African Cup of Nations to be held in South Africa. The 1994 Champions will play against the Wasps of Rwanda on Wednesday 29th Feb. 2012. Stephen Keshi has invited 11 Europe-based players for the first leg preliminary round match that was moved to a different venue by the Rwanda FA, owing to a rehabilitation work that is going at the 60,000 capacity National Stadium in Kigali.
Prolific Blackburn Rovers striker, Yakubu Aiyegbeni will be making his return to the squad for the first time in 20 months. The last time he played for the West Africans was at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Sani Kaita that got a red card in Eagles' second match at SA 2010 has also been invited for the match.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Football Federation(NFF) has lodged a complaint to CAF (Confederation of African Football) on the security arrangement at the venue of the match.

Rwanda FA fires back!
The spokesman of the Rwanda FA has dismissed the allegation being levelled against the East Africans. The Rwandan FA said that there is no security challenge at the moment.

Keshi puts faith in home Eagles!
The Super Eagles gaffer has called up 11 home-based players for next Wednesday's fixture in the high altitude nation. The home Eagles defeated the Lone Stars of Liberia in Monrovia earlier in the month.
