Arsenal ends Liverpool's unbeaten home record!

A brace from Premier League's top scorer, Robin Van Persie was enough for Arsenal to end the Carling Cup holders' unbeaten home record for this season. Liverpool missed a 16th minute penalty via Dirk Kuyt . The Arsenal keeper tripped Luis Suarez in the penalty box and the referee had no choice than to award a penalty to the home team. Dutch International, Kuyt missed the penalty as Szczesney pushed the ball before saving Kuyt's rebound. Liverpool eventually took the lead when Lauren Koscielney  scored an own goal off a Martin Kelly cross from the right.
Robin Van Persie scored the equalizer after 30 minutes when he nodded in  from close range off a Bacary Sagna cross. Dirk Kuyt's 44th minute snap shot cam of the upright after Suarez's shot was blocked by an Arsenal defender earlier on.
The visitors took the game to their hosts in the second half as both teams tried to find a winner. Gervinho and Oxlade Chamberlain replaced Rosicky and Diaby respectively, but Kenny Dalglish failed to make any change.
Martin Kelly missed a clear chance after 88th minutes of play. The fourth official of the game added 8 minutes as injury time after some minutes were wasted earlier in the second half due to an injury suffered by Mikel Arteta. Van Persie scored his 25th goal of the Premier League season with a sliced shot inside the penalty box.

Dalglish only introduced Bellamy and Carroll during the injury time. A total of 12 corners were played by Liverpool while Arsenal failed to get one, but the Arsene Wenger side won't care as long as they got the three points away from home.
Prior to this game, the Dutch man had never scored a goal for Arsenal at Anfield. Liverpool's unbeaten home record has now been ended and it seems the Carling Cup Champions will have to settle for Europa League competition next season as they are now 10 points behind Arsenal in the race for a fourth place finish.

Steven Gerrard, Daniel Agger and Glen Johnson were all missing in action for the Reds due to injury while Ramsey couldn't make it to the bench for Arsenal for the same reason.
