Lucky Manchester United now 3 points clear of City.

Manchester United did themselves a lot of good when Wayne Rooney scored his 21st goal of the English Premier League season. Wayne Rooney took advantage of a sloppy defending by Fulham players to score the only goal of the match in the 42nd minute of action. Moussa Dembele was able to beat Michael Carrick but failed to get his shot on target after 17 minutes. The Red Devils dominated the first 15 minutes of the game but they couldn't produce a reasonable attempt. Clint Dempsey almost scored in the 19th minute as he broke away from the Man United midfield and dribbled Jonny Evans before David De Gea cleared the ball out of play. John Arne Riise blocked Anotnio Valencia's shot in the 28th minute of action. Ryan Giggs picked up a yellow card for a bad tackle on Dembele in the 38th minute. Four minutes later, Rooney broke the deadlock after Jonny Evans passed the ball to the England striker to slot home the winner. John Riise committed a blunder in the build up to the goal as he failed to clear the ball after Ashley Young delivered a good cross from the right flank. Mark Schwarzer made a big save in the 54th minute as he tipped Young's cross away from goal. After Javier Hernadez came on for Danny Welbeck in the 63rd minute, Ryan Giggs fired his shot wide off the post after 68 minutes. Rio Ferdinand appeared to be injured in the 74th minute and Chris Smalling was introduced into the game as Unted searched for their second goal.

Michael Oliver denied Fulham a penalty when Danny Murphy was fouled by Michael Carrick in the 89th minute and at the end of 90 minutes Manchester United returned to the summit of the English Premiership with 73 points from 30 matches.
