Arsenal can close the gap between them and third placed Tottenham to one point with a win over Newcastle United. Kieran Gibbs,Andre Santos, Mkel Arteta and Aaron Ramsey should be fit to make a return to Emirates later tonight. Arsenal are currently five points ahead of their visitors who can close the gap between them and their hosts to just two points if they win as they did last season. And Carroll (now at Liverpool) scored the only goal the last time these teams met at the Emirates Stadium last season, though they both settled for an epic 4-4 draw in the return leg. Arsenal squandered a 4-0 lead to give Chris Hutton's men the chance to grab a point. On the opening day of this current season, the two teams played a barren draw at Sport Direct Arena. Ivory Coast International, Gervinho got a red card on that day. Newcastle United will welcome Shola Amoebi who has recovered from illness. Peter Lovenkrands, Sammy Amoebi and Leon Best are all out due to injury.
Robin Van Persie will hope to increase his goal tally tonight. The Dutch man has scored a total of 25 goals so far in the Premier League. Demba Ba and Demba Cisse are expected to lead the Newcastle front line.
