Manchester City were truly at home as they defeated an under par United team 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Monday night. A late first half header from Vincent Kompany was enough to give Mancini's men the three points at stake. United threatened their hosts in the opening minutes of the game but they lost the momentum to a determined City side. Sergio Aguero missed several scoring chances and had a poor game on the night. Alex Ferguson decided to put Valencia,Young,Welbeck and Hernandez on the bench while Giggs,J.S. Park and Nani played up front for the Red Devils. A late corner kick towards the end of the first half was nodded in by Kompany. After the restart, United tried to increase the tempo of the match but there was no positive outcome. Ferguson and Mancini exchanged some hot words on the touch line as they fixture drew to a close. Nigel de Jong and James Milner came on for Tevez and Nasri respectively. Welbeck and Valencia later got their chances to play but they couldn't prevent their team from losing the battle of Manchester. City will have to win their last two games or have better results than their rivals-United.
