Accra Hearts of Oak FC of Ghana have lost one of their most influential supporters of all time. The former Ghanaian president, John Atta Mills that died on Tuesday afternoon was an influential supporter of the former CAF Champions League winners. The last time a Ghanaian team won Africa's most prestigious club competition was in the year 2000. John Atta Mills was a sports lover as he also promoted the game of hockey in his country. Hearts of Oak have lost their status as one of Africa's finest. The Ghanaian team have not featured in the group phase of the Champions League for over a decade. The death of the former Ghanaian leader will be an additional blow in their quest to return to the summit of club football in Africa.
