Carroll joins West Ham as Yesil leaves Leverkusen

Andy Carroll has joined West Ham United on a season-long loan. The Liverpool striker was bought for a Britush record fee of 35 million pounds in January 2011. The former Newcastle player has failed to impress at Anfield after playing for close to 18 months. Carroll has earlier rejected the chance to join the East Londoners, but he had to change his mind after Brendan Rodgers revealed that he won't keep a player with such a high price tag on the bench. Carroll's £80,000 a week wages will be settled by his new club while Liverpool will also pocket £1m.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Samed Yesil from Bayer Leverkusen of Germany. The 18 year old striker joined the Reds for a £1m fee. Yesil was the golden boot winner at the 2011 FIFA World Youth championship. He has played for the under 16,17 and 18 teams of Germany. The German will be the fifth player to join the Reds this summer.
