Dortmund records first win of the Bundesliga season

Borussia Dortmund began their title defence on a winning note at the Signal Iduna Park. Jakub Blaszczykowski's pass was not blocked by Aleksandar Ignjovski and Marco Reus was calm to put the ball behind the net in the 11th minute. The defending champions gained a lot of confidence from that match and they dominated the match for a brief period before Eljero Elia threatened the Dortmund defence. The Dutchman had two goal opportunities in quick succession. His first attempt went wide while his second chance came via a pass from Aaron Hunt, but he couldn't beat Roman Weidenfeller who was in goal for the reigning champions.

In the 24th minute, Zlato's corner evaded the Dortmund defence before Marko Arnautovic fired a shot against the post. The two teams tried to undo each other, but there were few chances on both ends.

Second Half
Sebastian Mielitz saved an effort from Subotic in the 50th minute. The Serbian's header was a powerful one that came after a nice corner kick from Marcel Schmelzer. Robert Lewandowski was a constant threat in the Bremen defence.  Theodor Gebre-Selassie made it 1-1 after a great cross from Arnautovic in the 75th minute. Lewandowski provided an assist for Mario Gotze to give his team the victory.

The defeat means Bremen are yet to win any of their last 10 league matches.
