Suarez fires Liverpool to Europa League group stage

Luis Suarez's last minute equaliser against Hearts of Scotland was enough to guarantee a ticket to the group stage of this season's Europa League. The Reds won the first leg by 1-0 in Edinburgh last week.

Brendan Rodgers paraded some members of his first team against the Scottish club on Thursday night. Reina,Kelly,Skrtel,Gerrard and Suarez were on the starting line up. Stewart Downing was used as a left back, while Morgan was the main striker.

The Reds dominated a larger part of the first half, but they were wasteful in front of goal. Morgan's first half goal was ruled out for offside.

In the second half, Suarez's effort came off the woodwork. The Uruguayan had enough time to score, but he delayed his shot and a Hearts defender deflected the ball to the post.

Raheem Sterling was introduced towards the end of the game as the 17 year old made some dazzling runs down the flank.

In the 84th minute Templeton's 35 yard shot was parried into the net by Pepe Reina. The Spaniard should have made a simple save.

Luis Suarez ensured the Reds didn't need an extra time to qualify when he scored a brilliant goal from a tight angle in the 87th minute.

Liverpool will now await the Europa League draws as they prepare to host Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
