The tale of an over-hyped team

When the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria won all their qualifiers for the 2013 under 17 African Youth Championship, the entire football media in Nigeria started touting the squad as the best team the World's most populous black nation have ever had.
The team defeated several other clubs and countries during friendlies. Morocco 2013 started on April 13th with the host nation crushing Gabon 4-1 while Nigeria humiliated Ghana by 6-1 a day later.
The Eaglets amazingly lost to Cote d' Ivoire by 1-0 in their second group match.
The team defeated Congo 7-0 to finish as group winners.

The junior Eagles of Tunisia were beaten 4-2 in the semi final. The Ivorians overcame Morocco by 2-1 in the other semi final.
The two finalists had lost three players each before the commencement of the tournament.
All the players were declared as over-aged players.
Cote d'Ivoire came from a goal down to play a draw in the final before winning the title 5-4 on penalties.
The quality of the Nigerian side was silenced by the under-rated Francophone nation.
Nigeria will compete at the UAE FIFA under 17 world cup later in the year.
