The race is on!

The race for 15 tickets to the 2013 African Cup of Nations begins tomorrow. The tournament will be hosted in South Africa and it will be the first Nations Cup to held in an odd-number year. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) took this decision in 2010 in order to avoid the World Cup and Nations Cup being held in the same year as it has been since 1970. In one of the Qualifiers, 4time champions, Cameroon will play away to Guinea Bissau. The Indomitable Lions failed to qualify for the 2012 edition of the tournament that was co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

The Desert Foxes of Algeria will travel to Banjul to take on Gambia. The 1990 Champions were one of the teams that failed to scale through the hurdles during the 2012 qualifiers that was concluded in October,2011.
Meanwhile, the most successful country in the history of the mundial will play against Central African Republic in Bangui. The Pharaohs of Egypt had a disappointing campaign last year by failing to feature at Africa's biggest soccer showpiece for the first time in several decades.
Nigeria will play against the Amavubi of Rwanda in Kigali. The 1994 Champions also failed to qualify for the last edition of the tournament as the Super Eagles were denied a Nations Cup ticket by Guinea in Abuja last October. The country's FA boss, Aminu Maigari has charged the Stephen Keshi-led team to beat the bees of Rwanda on Wednesday.
In other matches the Harambe Stars of Kenya will host Togo in Nairobi, while Addis Ababa will be the venue for Ethiopia  VS Zimbabwe. All the 16 teams that played at CAN 2012 won't be involved in this preliminary round.
