Nigerian Premier League Round-Up




Enugu Rangers are now unbeaten in seven consecutive matches in the Nigerian Premier League. The Flying Antelopes were 1-0 winners over 2000 League winners, Lobi Stars of Makurdi. The match was played at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium in Enugu. In other results, Confederation Cup holders, Heartland FC of Owerri held Gombe United to a 2-2 draw at the Pantani Stadium while ABS FC got an unlikely 2-1 away win over Kaduna United at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium on Sunday evening. Warri Wolves got a 1-1 draw in Ibadan against Oluyole Warriors. Two time CAF Champions League winners, Enyimba FC defeated Jigawa Golden Stars by a goal to nil at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba. Wikki Tourists of Bauchi were truly at home as the pipped Sharks FC by a goal to nil. Newly promoted Rising Stars of Akure beat 2006 League winners, Ocean Boys by two goals to nil. Meanwhile, the match between Kwara United of Ilorin and Sunshine Stars of Akure was abandoned due to crowd violence that was orchestrated by the home fans who wounded some players of Sunshine Stars before the game was abandoned. Dolphins were missing in action in the Nigerian League due to their CAF Champions League fixture which they won 3-0. The Nigerian Champions have qualified for the second round of the competition with a 6-0 aggregate win.
