Japan waved aside by Mexico.

The Blue Samurai were beaten by three goals to one in their Olympic football semi final match against Mexico on Tuesday afternoon. The Japanese team had a 100% defensive record prior to this game. Their last match was a 3-0 victory over Egypt in the last eight. Yuki Otsi scored his third goal of the tournament in the 11th minute. Keigo Higashi supplied a pass for the youngster who fired a long range strike to give his team the lead. The Mexicans were unable to penetrate through the Japanese defense, but Marco Fabian gave his team the equaliser via a header in the 30th minute. The goal came after a well taken corner kick. The second half started on a good note for the Mexicans. Japanese defender, Ohigiharan failed to deal with a simple pass from his goal keeper. Oribe Peralta pounced unto the ball and put the ball into the back of the net to put Luis Fernando's men into the lead. The goal scorer provided an assist that was converted by Cortes who came on as a substitute. Peralta shoved aside a Japanese defender before releasing the new entrant around the penalty box. Mexico will meet Brazil in Saturday's final.
