Team USA wins Women's football gold medal

The United States Women team have won the gold medal at the London 2012 Olympics. The US team defeated their Japanese counterparts at the Olympic stadium on Thursday night. Lloyd gave the US team the lead in the 18th minute. The Americans were at their best for most part of the game. Japan are the reigning World champions and they were hoping to add the Olympics medal to the world title they won at Germany 2011. Lloyd doubled United States' lead in the second half before Japan scored a consolatory goal in the 66th minute of action. The US keepr made a great save to deny the Asians an equaliser later in the game.The Japanese ladies wept profusely after the final.
