Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the departure of Croatian midfielder, Luka Modric. The former Spurs midfielder has joined Real Madrid for a transfer fee of around £30 million on Monday. The Croat expressed his delight with his move to the Spanish capital after a long tussle during the summer. Modric joined Tottenham from Dinamo Zagreb in 2008 and he has emerged as one of the best midfielders in Europe over the last few seasons. He was linked with a move to Chelsea in the summer of 2011, but Harry Redknapp blocked the move in order to keep him for another season. Redknapp was eventually sacked by David Levy and Andrea Villas Boas couldn't stand in the way of the Madrid admirer.
The Croat believes he has joined the club that can boast of the best coach and the best players in World football. Interestingly, Tottenham and Real Madrid have recorded the same results in their first two league matches of the season. They've lost by 2-1 and played 1-1 draws in their respective leagues.
