Sunshine Stars of Nigeria are through to the last four of this year's CAF Champions League. The Akure-based team qualified after a crowd violence ensued in a game between Esperance Sportive de Tunis and Etoile du Sahel at the Sousse stadium over the weekend. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) decided to disqualify Etoile du Sahel from the competition and also removed all points gained by teams that have met them.
Hence, Esperance and Sunshine are tied on six points each while ASO Chlef of Algeria have no point. Esperance will host Sunshine on September 2nd to determine the overall group winner, a draw will be enough for the home side to take the top spot in the group due to a superior head-to-head record. Sunshine were beaten 2-0 in Ijebu Ode on the opening day of the group stage of the competition.
