City crush Villa as Norwich disunites Manchester

Manchester City provided a great performance to move to the summit of the Barclays Premier League for the first time this season.

Roberto Mancini's men have warmed up nicely for the visit of Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League match that will be played next week. Pablo Zabaleta and Aleksander Kolarov were replaced by Maicon and Samir Nasri in Mancini's starting XI.

The reigning league champions had a decent start in the opening minutes of the encounter, but Paul Lambert's men were well organised at the back. Aston Villa were narrowly beaten by City's fiercest rivals last weekend. The first goal of the game was scored by David Silva. The Spaniard was the last City player that got to the end of a corner that was taken by Samir Nasri. Aguero,Kompany and Carlos Tevez all failed to turn the ball into Villa's net, but Silva was available to tap home from close range.

Second Half
Ron Vlaar prevented Sergio Aguero from scoring a goal off Silva's cross. The Dutch international was the only Villa player that was around Aguero when he received an inviting cross from Silva. After the corner, Villa failed to clear their lines and the assistant referee signified that Andreas Wiemann handled the ball in the penalty box and Kun Aguero dispatched the ball to make it 2-0 to 'the Citizens'.

Carlos Tevez also scored a brace while Aguero added another goal to make it 5-0 for Manchester City.

Big Upset
Manchester United suffered a shocking 1-0 defeat at Carrow Road. Sir Alex Ferguson's men were beaten by Anthony Pilkington's second half strike. Norwich City disunited the erstwhile league leaders. Chris Hutton's men should have scored more goals, but their fans would definitely be pleased with the result. Manchester United have now recorded two clean sheets in their last 13 premier league games. The 1-0 defeat has handed Manchester City the leadership of the table with 28 points.
