Spectacular Suarez Sweeps Wigan Aside

The 2011 Copa America player of the tournament and Uruguayan attacker,Luis Suarez scored a brace in Liverpool's 3-0 win over Wigan Athletic at Anfield.

Brendan Rodgers' men are now unbeaten in their last six premier league games. The two sides played a goalless draw in the first half. Pepe Reina returned to the Reds starting line up after a lengthy injury lay off. Martin Skrtel replaced Jamie Carragher in the central defence, while Suso replaced Nuri Sahin who played against Chelsea last weekend.

Aroune Kone and Franco Di Santo led the attack for Wigan Athletic. Jose Enrique and Daniel Agger went close to giving Liverpool the lead in the first half, but their efforts weren't good enough to beat Al-Habsi.  Daniel Agger nodded Gerrard's corner over the bar and Enrique dragged his shot wide within the penalty area.

Suarez pounced on the ball and slammed it pass Al-Habsi to make it 2-0.

Sterling fired a shot towards the Wigan goal in the 65th minute, but the keeper palmed his shot and Enrique fired in the third goal for the Reds. Jordan Henderson ballooned the ball over the ball in the 70th minute while Glen Johnson's last minute effort went agonizingly wide off the post.
