Manchester United held by Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur forced Manchester United to a 1-1 draw at the White Hart Lane on Sunday. The Londoners had beaten Sir Alex Ferguson's men by 1-0 at Old Trafford in the first leg.

Robin Van Persie put United in front towards the end of the first half of an exciting premier league fixture.

United dominated the opening minutes of the game but they couldn't break down Spurs defence until Van Persie applied a glossing finish to a move that involved Shinji Kagawa.

Tottenham had several chances to equalise but David De Gea did well to keep the score at 1-0 for 90 minutes.

Equaliser
On the dot of 90 minutes Clint Dempsey scored the equaliser for Spurs. The ex-Fulham player turned in the ball after De Gea had fumbled with a cross from Assou Ekotto.

United are now five points ahead of Manchester City in the race for the English premiership crown.
