Sweet Suarez Sweeps Sunderland Aside

Luis Suarez continued his goal scoring spree. The Uruguayan bagged a brace in Liverpool's 3-0 win over Sunderland. Liverpool made two changes to the side that defeated QPR at Loftus Road.

Jordan Henderson replaced Joe Allen while Andre Wisdom played as a left back. Jose Enrique missed the fixture due to injury. Stewart Downing played in the midfield.

Sunderland's Titus Bramble didn't replace John O'Shea who missed the game due to injury.

The match started with a very high tempo. The Reds bossed the midfield and kept the possession of the ball as they exchanged an array of passes.

Simon Mignolet was called into action in the opening five minutes of the game.

Raheem Sterling pounced unto a pass from Suarez and lobbed the ball over on-rushing Sunderland keeper in the 19th minute.

The Black Cats had an opportunity to equalise within a minute, but they failed to do so.

Luis Suarez punished Carlos Cuelar in the penalty box. The ex-Ajax shrugged him off the ball before firing a shot into the back of the net after 26 minutes.

Liverpool enjoyed a larger share of the possession throughout the first half.

Second Half
Sunderland made an early change after the restart. Sessegnon was withdrawn for Fraizer.
Brendan Rodgers' men started making some sweet moves in the opposition's half.

Raheem Sterling received a stylish pass from Suarez in the 49th minute, but the 18 year old youngster missed an absolute sitter.

Four minutes later, Suarez made it 3-0 for Liverpool. Steven Gerrard's long thrust was followed up by 'el-Pistolero'. He smashed the ball into the middle of the net to ensure the home fans started the new year with a bang.

The Reds have moved up to 8th on the log standings and their next EPL match will be played at the Old Trafford on January 13th.

Daniel Sturridge is expected to make his debut in Liverpool's FA cup tie this weekend.
