Arsenal punished at the Emirates

Arsenal FC endured their second successful defeat at the Emirates stadium in London. Arsene Wenger's men were beaten 3-1 at home by Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League. This latest defeat was recorded after Blackburn Rovers dumped them out of the English FA cup last Saturday. Arsenal's hope of a silverware for the first time in eight years seems to be over.

A lot of soccer pundits predicted a win for the Bavarians,but Arsenal failed to prove them wrong.

The visitors took the lead after seven minutes of action. Thomas Muller crossed the ball from the right but Per Mertesacker failed to clear the ball out of danger. Toni Kroos got tot the end of the cross and fired his team into the lead.

Few minutes later, Kroos tried to add to his tally, but he was brought down by Per Metresacker. The resultant free-kick was taken by Daniel Van Buyten. His ambitious kick couldn't go beyond the wall.

Thomas Vermaelen picked up the first card of the evening after he slid to prevent Javi Martinez from getting the ball. Theo Walcott couldn;t force any meaningful save from the Bayern goal keeper after he got the better of Philip Lahm.

In the 20th minute, Frank Ribery's corner was nodded towards goal by Van Buyten, but Wojciech Szczesny tipped the ball into the air for Thomas Muller to make it 2-0 for Bayern.

Bastian Schweinsteiger was booked for a foul on Arsenal player. That booking has now ruled him out of the second leg that will be played at the Allianz Arena.

Mandzukic should have made it 3-0 in the 44th minute, he put his header wide from a decent position.

Lukas Podolski became the first man to score against the Germans in the year 2013. The ex-Bayern player was unmarked in the Bayern box and he nodded the ball past Manuel Neuer.

Tni Kroos forced the Arsenal keeper to make a great save inn the 64th minute.

In the 77th minute, Mario Mandzukic made it 3-1 for the German club, He started a sleek move that involved hom and Arjen Robben, in the end, Robben's cross came of the ankles of the Croatian before rolling into the net.

That was the last major action of the match as the visitors spread the ball across the pitch to enjoy a well-deserved win.
