Liverpool vs Zenit preview

Liverpool FC will take on Zenit Saint Oetersburg at Anfield Road on Thursday night. The match is the second leg of the UEFA Europa League round of 32. The English side were beaten 2-0 in the first leg that was played in Russia last week.

Luis Suarez missed several scoring chances in the first half of that match before the home side punished Brendan Rodgers men for being wasteful in front of goal. The Reds defeated Swansea City by 5-0 in an English premier league match that was played on Sunday. If they can repeat the same feat against the 2008 UEFA cup winners, the Merseyside club will progress to the last 16 of the tournament.
Steven Gerrard must be at his best today

Martin Skrtel is expected to replace Jamie Carragher in the defence line. The Slovak could face his former club if that decision is taken by Liverpool's gaffer. Coutinho and Sturridge won't be available for this tie because they have appeared in UEFA club competitions before joining Liverpool in the January transfer window.

Fabio Borini will miss the game due to an injury he sustained against Swansea. The Italian has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Hulk and Aleksandr Kherzhakov will lead the attack for the Russians.

Liverpool must attack the Russians with caution. If Jose Enrique and Glen Johnson overlap without tracking back on time, Hulk and Kherzhakov may punish the Reds.

Our prediction: Liverpool 3-2 Zenit
