United knocked out of FA cup

Manchester United have been knocked out of the English FA cup sponsored by Budweiser. The current league leaders were beaten 1-0 by Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge on Monday.

The quarter final replay had about 40,704 people in attendance. After the first tie ended 2-2 at the Old Trafford about two weeks ago, Sir Alex Ferguson left Van Persie on the bench while Rooney didn't travel with the squad.

Rafael Benitez recalled Demba Ba,Juan Mata,Oscar and Eden Hazard to the squad. His rotational policy was good enough to hand Chelsea a semi final ticket against Manchester City at the Wembley stadium.

The two sides missed some scoring chances in the opening half before Demba Ba scored a trademark goal in the 49th minute. Juan Mata picked out the Senegalese striker who nutmegged between United defenders to turn the ball into the top corner.

Javier Hernandez was Manchester United's best player. The Mexican had a goal bound header tipped over the bar by Petr Cech. He was also denied a goal by the Chelsea keeper in the first half.
