The free falling Manchester United

The reigning English premiership champions suffered yet another defeat over the weekend. The Red devils have lost 6 of the 8 matches they've played this year. The latest defeat occurred in the week 24 match against Stoke City at the Britannia stadium on Saturday.

The statement that was made by David Moyes has shown that the free fall from glory is far from over. The Scot said that he doesn't know what to do to win matches. Such a declaration is another way of saying "I have no clue with regards to getting my job done."

If David Moyes make such an open declaration, one wonders why Sir Alex Ferguson recommended him to be his successor. Moyes has never won any reasonable title with any club in his coaching career.

He is the oldest manager(over 50 years) of a top European team that cannot boast of lifting a major title. Clubs like Chelsea,Arsenal,Manchester City,Bayern Munich,Real Madrid,AS Monaco,PSG and Juventus have managers that have proven their mettle in terms of winning titles.

Manchester United's signing of Juan Mata is like putting a drop of water in an ocean. Mata,Van Persie and Wayne Rooney were all on the starting line up when Stoke City's Charlie Adam stole the show. A more potent attacking force would have punished Manchester United by more than a goal margin.

Everton failed to beat Manchester United for a decade (2003-2013) under Moyes, but Roberto Martinez broke that jinx by showing Moyes how to do it late last year.
RVP has been linked with an exit from Old Trafford

The league champions suffered a 1-0 home defeat in the same period they lost at home to Newcastle United for the first time in over 20 years.

United have won 3 of their last six league matches and lost the remaining three. If the simple formula of win-loss is applied, soccer pundits can easily predict that the Old Trafford giants will lose at least 5 or more games with 14 matches to the end of the season.

The upcoming fixtures that includes fixtures against Manchester City,Everton,Liverpool and Arsenal the once dreaded "theatre of dreams" has now become the theatre of nightmares.

Facts
  • The last time they lost 8 out of 24 matches was in the 1989-90 season when they lost a total of 11 matches.
  • The last time Stoke City beat United was in 1984.
