Stoke stopped by Chelsea

Stoke City were beaten 4-0 at home by Rafael Benitez's men at the Britannia. The Potters suffered their first premier league defeat at home this season. Kenwyne Jones had the chance to put the hosts ahead earlier in the game, but he put the ball wide off the post. About ten minutes later, Frank Lampard's shot was saved by Begovic. Demba Ba supplied the pass to the England international.

Towards the end of the first half, Cesar Azpilicueta received a pass from Eden Hazard and his cross was turned in by Jonathan Walters. The own goal gave Chelsea a 1-0 lead at half time.

SECOND HALF
There was a brief confusion in the 60th minute when the referee rescinded his penalty decision. Etherington was brought down by Azpilicueta, but the decision was overruled by an assistant referee Sian Massey.
Four minutes later, Jonathan Walters was at it again. The Stoke player succumbed  to pressure from Lampard and he nodded the ball past his own goal keeper.

In the 67th minute, Lampard made it 3-0 via  a penalty kick that was awarded to the Londoners. Ex-Chelsea player, Robert Huth brought down Juan Mata before the Englishman scored his 194th goal for the club.

Eden Hazard made it 4-0 in the 73rd minute when his individual effort was enough to beat Begovic who was in goal for the hosts.

Walters lost the chance to redeem his image when he lost a spot kick in the die moments of the encounter.
