Liverpool and Chelsea pegged back in EPL thrillers

Arsenal came back from 2-0 down to claim a draw against Liverpool at the Emirates stadium. The visitors took the lead through Luis Suarez in the 3rd minute of play. Bacary Sagna and Gibbs failed to clear the ball before the Uruguayan scored his 17th league goal of the season.

Liverpool were marginally better than their opponents throughout the first half. Arsenal came close to scoring through Walcott and a tame Oliver Giroud header.
In the 43rd minute, Jordan Henderson got to the end of a counter attack, but the Arsenal keeper closed him down before Henderson's goal attempt landed on the roof of the net.

Second Half
Liverpool's penalty appeal was turned down by the referee. Thomas Vermaelen seems to have touched the ball in the penalty box. The match was an end-to-end stuff as the two keepers were put under test.

Henderson scored a fantastic goal on the hour mark to make it 2-0 to Liverpool.

The 'Gunners' responded with two goals in two minutes. Oliver Giroud scored the first before Theo Walcott capitalised on an error by Johnson to make it 2-2.

At the Madjeski stadium, Reading stunned Chelsea with two late goals. Juan Mata and Frank Lampard put the visitors ahead, but Chelsea failed to hold on to their two goal lead in the injury time. The match ended 2-2.

Arsenal demolish Newcastle in a 10 goal thriller.

Arsenal FC of London ended the year 2012 in a scintillating fashion. Arsene Wenger's men defeated Newcastle United by 7-3 at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday 29th December,2012. Theo Walcott scored a hat trick for the 'Gunners'. Oliver Giroud also bagged a brace while Podolski and Oxlade Chamberlain scored a goal each.

The first goal of the match was scored in the 20th minute by Walcott. Lucas Podolski delivered a cross that ended behind Newcastle's back four. Walcott was able to beat the offside trap and raced through the left channel of the 'Gunners' attack before firing a shot into Newcastle's net to make it 1-0 to the hosts.

Senegalese international, Demba Ba scored his 12th goal of the league with a 25 yard free kick. His effort was deflected into the net by Jack Wilshere in the 43rd minute of play.

SECOND HALF

Kieran Gibbs effort earlier in the second half was thwarted by Tim Krul. The Dutch keeper couldn't prevent Alex Oxlade Chamberlain from making it 2-1 to Arsenal. Santi Cazorla provided the assist for the Englishman. The Spaniard supplied a through pass for Chamberlain to fire his team into the lead in the 50th minute after a poor defending by the visitors.

In the 59th minute, Marveaux made it 2-2. The Frenchman tap the ball into an empty net after a cross from Gabriel Obertan went across the goal line.

Five minutes later, Jack Wilshere exhibited a Messi-like goal attempt. The England midfielder chipped the ball over Tim Krul, but the ball bounced off the crossbar for Podolski to nod the ball into the net.

In the 69th minute, Demba Ba made it 3-3. Marveaux dispossessed Gibbs off the ball and delivered a cross that was volleyed home by the Senegalese international.

Four minutes later, Walcott restored Arsenal's lead. The 23 year old player spun into the 'Magpies' defence before scoring a wonderful goal.

Walcott provided a master-class cross that was met by a flying header by Oliver Giroud. The Frenchman scored his second goal of the match few mionutes later when he slot the ball past Newcastle's keeper to make it 6-3 to Arsene Wenger's men.

There was still time for Walcott to put Newcastle to the sword with a fine effort in the injury time, Arsenal overwhelmed their opponents who left the Emirates Stadium without a single point despite scoring three goals away from home.

Meanwhile, Walcott's future at Arsenal is yet to be settled. The Englishman has not agreed to a contract extension beyond this current season.
