NFF and age cheat in Nigerian football.

The Nigerian Football Federation President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari has declared that the handlers of the nation's under 17 team should go and look for players that are within the age range stipulated by FIFA from Secondary Schools in the country. Nigeria and other African countries have always been accused of fielding over-aged players in previous age-grade competitions. The players from National League and Amateur League have been banned from representing Nigeria at the under 17 level. This step was taken in a bid to minimize age cheat the nation's football. If the NFF can really stand on this point without shifting grounds in order to win tournaments at all cost, then this might be the beginning of the true development of the round leather game in Africa's most populous nation. Nigeria have won three of the FIFA under 17 World Youth Championships in 1985,1993 and 2007. The bunch of players that won the 2007 edition are currently in hibernation across the globe. Macaulay Chrisantus was the tournament's top scorer ahead of Toni Kroos of Bayern Munich who has since graduated into the senior team of his country. David De Gea was Spain's under 17 goal keeper in 2007,as at now the Spaniard is Manchester United's first choice goal keeper.
The female under 20 team of Nigeria is under the spotlight of some African nations ahead of Japan 2012. Zimbabwe have accused the Nigerian Football Federation of parading Women against their girls. If Nigeria want to be a World power in global football, they will have to start from the grassroots.
