Unstoppable Liverpool disunites Manchester United

Liverpool were the guests of Manchester United at Old Trafford stadium on Sunday 16th March 2014.

Prior to the match, the Reds were 11 points ahead of the hosts after 28 matches in the English premier league.

David Moyes was disillusioned after another frustrating 90 minutes at the 'theatre of dreams'. The home team managed to curtail the rampaging Merseyside giants in the opening half hour of the game.

Daniel Sturridge had about two half chances during that period, but he failed to make them count. The former Chelsea playrr delivered a nice cross that landed on the feet of Luis Suarez, but Rafael da Silva handled the ball in the penalty area.
              Need divine help?
Gerrard stepped up to convert the spot kick.  In the second half, Joe Allen won another penalty in the 48th minute that Gerrard made it 2-0. Liverpool dominated their hosts with their sleek and incisive moves.

Luis Suarez scored his 25th goal of the league in the 84th minute.
Manchester United have also lost to West Bromwich Albion, Newcastle, Everton, Tottenham and now Liverpool.

Brendan Rodgers has really transformed Liverpool to serious title cobtenders.

Indeed, the nightmare at Manchester United is far from over. The sacking of David Moyes and a thorough rebuilding process needs to be done.

Liverpool's amazing run in the EPL

When George Gillet and Tom Hicks mismanaged the capital of the most successful British club in Europe, a lot of people thought that was going to be the end of the great club.

The crisis at Anfield led to the exit of Rafael Benitez and some other top players in the 2009-2010 season. Players like Xabi Alonso, Javier Mascherano, Albert Riera, Dirk Kuyt, Emiliano Insua and Fernando Torres followed the Spanish tactician out of Liverpool.

Roy Hodgson was brought in the summer of 2010 following the outstanding Europa League run of Fulham in the 2009-2010 season.  The current England manager failed to save Liverpool from going further down on the league table. The Reds were placed 12th on the table by January of the year 2011. The new owners of the club-Fenway Sports Group(FSG) ran out of patience and didn't hesitate to sack Hodgson who proved to be unfit to handle a huge club like Liverpool.

Kenny Dalglish who happens to be a club legend was brought in to take over the helm of affairs at Anfield in January 2011. He was given the task of stabilizing the club and ensuring the fans regained confidence in the board. Dalglish did a wonderful job by taking the club from 12th to 6th by the end of the 2010-2011 season.

John Williams Henry and Tom Werner decided to give Dalglish a two year contract. The club legend brought back glory to the Reds. Liverpool got to two cup finals at the end of 2011-2012 season. The Reds won the League cup that was sponsored by Capital One with a penalty shootout victory while they lost to Chelsea in the FA cup final in a controversial manner.

The Reds' equaliser was wrongly cancelled by the centre referee.

Meanwhile, after the appointment of Brendan Rodgers in the summer of 2012, calm seems to have returned to Anfield. The Reds are now placed second on the league table after 27 matches. This is the first time in five years that Liverpool will be ranked so high at this stage of the season.

The fantastic work done by Rodgers has really returned the Reds back to the respectable position they used to be.

The most dreadful striking force in the English premier league is certainly the trio of Luis Suarez,Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling. The Uruguayan is the leading scorer with 24 goals followed by his team mate, Sturridge. The Englishman has now scored a total of 18 goals in 20 league appearances.

EPL week 24 review: City stumbles at home

The English premiership has reached week 24 of the current 2013/2014 league season. The week 23 leaders-Manchester City stumbled at the Etihad stadium on Monday night.

The 'Citizens' lost their first home game of the season when they went down by 1-0 to Chelsea. Branislav Ivanovic's 30th minute thunderous strike was enough to send Manuel Pellegrini's men off the top spot.

Jose Mourinho's approach to the match was against the expectation of many people who thought the Portuguese tactician was going to set up his team to defend against the free scoring Manchester City.

Chelsea are now level on points with the City on 53 points, but they are placed third due to an inferior goal difference.

In the Tyneside derby, Newcastle United stumbled to a 3-0 home loss in their match against Sunderland at the St James' park. Fabio Borini scored via a penalty while Adam Johnson also added his name on the scorers chart.

West Ham United defeated Swansea City by 2-0 despite playing the entire second half with 10 men. Andy Carroll was sent off for a elbowing an opponent in the first half. Kevin Nolan scored a brace in that match. That defeat has cost the Swansea manager his job. Michael Laudrup was fired as the manager of the Welsh team on Tuesday after recording 6 losses in 8 matches.

Everton came from a goal down to beat Aston Villa by 2-1 to climb up the table. The 'Toffees' are now placed 5th on the log standings.

Tottenham Hotspur slipped to the 6th position after playing a 1-1 draw against Hull City on Saturday.

Charlie Adam produced a scintillating performance as he scored a brace against Manchester United at the Britannia stadium in Stoke-on-Trent.

Stoke City defeated Man United by 2-1 to condemn the champions to their 8th league defeat in 24 matches. That was Stoke City's first win over their visitors in 30 years. The last time the visitors lost 8 matches in 24 league games was in the 1989-90 season.

Fulham were crushed at home by Southampton. The Londoners were beaten on their home ground by 3-0. The Cottagers at the bottom of the table.

Cardiff City defeated Norwich City by 2-1 at the Millennium stadium in Wales.

At the Emirates stadium,Arsenal overcame Crystal Palace by 2-0. Oxlade-Chamberlain scored the two goals for Arsene Wenger's men as they moved up to 55 points and are now on top of the table.

Liverpool failed to capitalize on the defeat that was suffered by Manchester United as they played a disappointing 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns. The Reds took the lead in the 23rd minute through Daniel Sturridge, but Kolo Toure committed a blunder by passing the ball across the face of goal later in the second half. Victor Anichebe punished the former Arsenal player by slotting the ball past a helpless Simon Mignolet.
