Suarez and Sturridge sinks Sunderland

Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge provided an enviable performance as Liverpool recorded their fourth victory in six matches.

The match was played at the Stadium of Light on Sunday evening. The home side played the match with a caretaker manager that was brought in to replace the sacked Paolo Di Canio who was fired last weekend.

The 'Black Cats' managed to get a draw in their first five matches prior to the defeat that they suffered on Sunday. The home side started on a very bright note by dominating the first 25 minutes of action.

In the 28th minute,Steven Gerrard's corner kick was poorly dealt with by Sunderland, but Daniel Sturridge managed to bundle the ball over the line with his biceps.

The Englishman provided an assist for Luis Suarez's first goal of the season. The former Chelsea and Man City winger was at the end of a successful counter attack and he provided a sublime pass that was slot into an empty net by Suarez.

After the restart, Sunderland pulled a goal back when Simon Mignolet parried a shot in the six hard box. The rebound was turned in due to a sloppy attitude from Liverpool defenders.

Luis Suarez made it 3-1 in the 89th minute after a counter attack that was initiated by Mignolet,a former Sunderland keeper. The Uruguayan striker picked the ball from his own half and picked out Sturridge on his left before a return pass was calmly slot into the net.

Liverpool bids for Atletico striker

Liverpool have tendered a bid of £21m for Diego Costa. The Brazilian striker scored a total of 20 goals in 44 matches last season. Atletico Madrid have sold Radamel Falcao to AS Monaco in June, but the 2012 Europa League champions have replaced him with David Villa and Baptistao.

Costa made his debut for Brazil in March this year.

Brendan Rodgers was quoted as saying that the club has money to spend on quality players. No official statement has been released by the Reds, but Diego Simeone-Atletico coach has stated that Diego Costa can leave the club.

The amount offered by Liverpool meets the buyout clause of the potent Brazilian goal poacher. This move is not connecte with the Luis Suarez saga. The club wanted to pay the same amount for Henrikh Mhktaryan earlier in June.

Liverpool have already signed Iago Aspas,Simon Mignolet,Koko Toure and Luis Alberto this summer.

Arsenal prepares bid for Suarez

Arsenal FC is ready to offer more than £30m for Liverpool's Luis Suarez. The London club's initial offer was rejected by the Anfield club earlier this week.

Arsene Wenger is likely going to miss out on signing Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid. The Frenchman has a transfer kitty of £100m.

Luis Suarez has voiced out his displeasure at the inability of his club to book a place in the pretigious UEFA Champions League.

The South American's public row with David Cameron and the British media may hinder his move to another premiership club.

Brendan Rodgers to sign high profile players

Liverpool's manager,Brendan Rodgers has hinted that he will make some marquee signings before the end of the transfer window.
The Northern Irishman has already sanctioned the signing of players like Kolo Toure,Iago Aspas,Luis Alberto and Simon Mignolet.

He narrowly missed out on Henrikh Mhiktaryan who joined Borussia Dortmund earlier this week.

With the impending departure of Luis Suarez, the Liverpool manager is expected to get adequate replacement for the former Ajax hitman.

Liverpool's first pre-season friendly will be played tomorrow.

Arsenal won't get Suarez

Liverpool FC has rejected a £30m bid for Luis Suaarez. The Uruguayan star has expressed his displeasure about the English press after his arrival at the club two years ago.

The former Ajax player disclosed that he wanted to join Real Madrid last month. Arsene Wenger is believed to have been given £100m to bring new players to the London club.

Insights from Anfield has shown that the Reds won't sell Suarez for a fee less than about £50m. Since the player is tired of life the English premiership,a move to another EPL team is very unlikely.

'El Pistolero' scored 30 goals last season.

Suarez is not for sale-Liverpool

Liverpool FC has released an official statement to declare that Luis Suarez is not for sale. The Anfield club reacted to the comment that was made by the Uruguayan striker amid media speculations.

Suarez had said it was going to be difficult to turn down Real Madrid some few days ago. The controversial striker also said the right time for him to move is now. The 2012 League cup winner blamed the British media for his decision to leave Liverpool. Suarez was banned for eight matches after he was guilty of a racial abuse on Patrice Evra. That incident followed a one match ban he got against Newcastle United in December 2011 due to a Nazi gesture he made against Fulham.

In April 2013, he was handed a 10-match ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic during a premier league game with Chelsea.

There has been rumours in the British and Spanish media that the player has a £40m buy out clause in his contract, but Liverpool have denied such report.

Suarez is expected to play against France in an international friendly match on June 5th,2013.

Arsenal vs Liverpool preview

The English premier league continues tonight in England. Arsenal will host Liverpool at the Emirates stadium in the star match of the day. The 'Gunners' are ahead of their hosts by just three points. Arsenal were tied on 34 points with the Reds before their 5-1 thrashing of West Ham United last week.

Theo Walcott is Arsenal's leading top scorer with 16 goals this season.

The visitors
Pepe Reina could miss the trip to London due to injury. The Spaniard was sorely missed when Liverpool crashed out of the FA cup. Brad Jones could start between the sticks.
Jose Enrique would be subjected to a late fitness test before the match.

Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge are expected to lead the attacking line of the visitors.

The first leg of this fixture ended in a 2-0 win for Arsene Wenger's men. That fixture was played when the 'Reds' were having a poor run.

Oliver Giroud,Oxlade Chamberlain and Walcott should be kept under close watch by the visitors.

Jordan Henderson replaced Joe Allen while Andre Wisdom played as a left back. Jose Enrique missed the fixture due to injury. Stewart Downing played in the midfield.

Sunderland's Titus Bramble didn't replace John O'Shea who missed the game due to injury.

Simon Mignolet was called into action in the opening five minutes of the game.

Raheem Sterling pounced unto a pass from Suarez and lobbed the ball over on-rushing Sunderland keeper in the 19th minute.

The Black Cats had an opportunity to equalise within a minute, but they failed to do so.

Luis Suarez punished Carlos Cuelar in the penalty box. The ex-Ajax shrugged him off the ball before firing a shot into the back of the net after 26 minutes.

Liverpool enjoyed a larger share of the possession throughout the first half.

Second Half
Sunderland made an early change after the restart. Sessegnon was withdrawn for Fraizer.
Brendan Rodgers' men started making some sweet moves in the opposition's half.

Raheem Sterling received a stylish pass from Suarez in the 49th minute, but the 18 year old youngster missed an absolute sitter.

Four minutes later, Suarez made it 3-0 for Liverpool. Steven Gerrard's long thrust was followed up by 'el-Pistolero'. He smashed the ball into the middle of the net to ensure the home fans started the new year with a bang.

The Reds have moved up to 8th on the log standings and their next EPL match will be played at the Old Trafford on January 13th.

Liverpool's unbeaten run quashed by Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur has ended Liverpool's eight match unbeaten run in the English premier league. The 5th place team defeated the Reds by 2-1 at the White Hart Lane.

The match was played on Wednesday night at a fully packed stadium. Brendan Rodgers and Andreas Villas Boas were formally under Jose Mourinho in 2004.

Aaron Lennon scored the first goal in the 7th minute of action. Gareth Bale made a dazzling run down the left wing before setting up the England international.

In the 16th minute, Bale scored a spectacular free kick that beat Pepe Reina. The Spanish goal keeper was rooted to the same spot.

Prior to the encounter, Liverpool had refused to lose any of their last eight games, but the selection of Stewart Downing and Henderson backfired. The duo of Jonjo Shelvey and Suso would have done better.

Philip Dowd failed to award two clear penalties to Liverpool. Steven Gerrard was pushed down in the penalty box, while Suarez was tripped in the same area later in the second half.
Liverpool's best effort was a goal bound attempt that was cleared off the line by Kyle Walker.

In the second half,Gareth Bale scored an own goal, but that was not enough to guarantee the reigning League cup champions a draw.

Liverpool vs Newcastle preview

Liverpool will return to Anfield to keep a date with Newcastle United in a premier league clash this weekend. The Reds are currently placed 12th after 9 round of matches and they behind Alan Pardew's Newcastle on the log standings. Brendan Rodgers couldn't prevent his former side(Swansea) from sending Liverpool out of the Capital One Cup on Wednesday night.
The Welsh team stunned the League cup holders with a 3-1 win at Anfield. Luis Suarez's goal was just a consolation for the Reds.

Doubts
Newcastle United may miss the service of Demba Ba who is the joint top scorer of the Premier League with seven goals. The Senegalese striker sustained an injury in their last match that ended 2-1. Meanwhile,Pepe Reina is expected to make a return to the Liverpool line up against the Toons on Sunday. The Spaniard has missed his club's last three games due to a hamstring problem. Glen Johnson is also a major doubt for the mouth-watering cracker that will go down between the Reds and their visitors.

Hot Players
Luis Suarez seems to have found his fantastic goal form he had while playing for Ajax. The Uruguayan striker has scored six league goals and a total of about 10 goals this season. He single handedly prevented Liverpool from losing to arch-rivals, Everton on Sunday.

Prediction:
With Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez on the starting line up, the Anfield faithfuls should be rest assured of celebrating some goals against the Tyneside.

On the other hand, injury worries and loss of form could cost Newcastle all the three points at stake in the Merseyside city.
Liverpool 3-2 Newcastle

Liverpool v Manchester United preview

Liverpool and Manchester United will slug it out in one of the star games of the weekend in the Barclays Premiership. This will be the first home match for Liverpool after the final release of the Hillsborough disaster report which absorbed the fans of the club from any wrong doing on the day 96 of them lost their lives in one of the worst tragedy in the history of British football.

The Reds have only gained two points from the four league games they've played this season. They started their campaign with a 3-0 loss at The Hawthorns before a 2-2 draw against Manchester City. Arsenal inflicted a 2-0 defeat on Brendan Rodgers team about three weeks ago while Sunderland forced the reigning Carling Cup holders to a 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light.

Luis Suarez is Liverpool's top scorer with two league goals while Reina is one of the poorest keepers after four round of games. The Spaniard has conceded a total of eight goals. The Reds are without a senior striker for the first time in the history of the club. Jonjo Shelvey will be expected to transfer his magnificent Europa League form to the EPL. The 20 year old scored a brace to give his side a 5-3 win in Switzerland.

Suarez-Evra handshake
All eyes will be on the duo of Luis Suarez and Partice Evra when their team mates file out against one another before the official kick off time. Suarez was banned for eight matches after he was found guilty of a racial abuse against Patrice Evra at the Anfield Road last season. The duo will be meeting each other at the same venue for the first time since they failed to shake each other's hands before Liverpool's 2-1 loss at the Old Trafford in March ,2012.

The Visitors.
Manchester United are currently second on the league table after recording three wins from four games. Their first match of the season ended in a 1-0 defeat against another Merseyside club-Everton. Last week's 4-0 win over Wigan Athletic was their best league performance so far. The Red devils also managed to beat Galatasarayof Turkey by a lone goal on Wednesday while Liverpool came from 3-2 down to beat Young Boys of Switzerland by 5-3 in the Europa League.
Wayne Rooney is the major absentee for the visitors while Shinji Kagawa and Robin Van Persie are expected to tear the Liverpool defence into shreds on Sunday afternoon. Man United have scored a total of 10 goals in the league while the Merseyside rivals have only scored thrice this term.

Despite the fact that Liverpool will be playing at home, their lack of a quality striker will continue to hunt them until January. Suarez has been missing a lot of chances while Rodgers seems to have forgotten that Fabio Borini is NOT  a winger. Pepe Reina's performance has been poor right from the beginning of the season.

Our prediction
Liverpool 1-3 Manchester United

Sunderland darkens Liverpool's day

Sunderland FC played a one all draw against Liverpool at the Stadium of Light. The Black Cats went in front through Fletcher in the 30th minute. Brendan Rodgers named a squad that included Jonjo Shelvey, Fabio Borini, Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling. The Reds hit the woodwork on three occasions. Luis Suarez, Steven Gerrard and Glen Johnson all hit the woodwork.

A sloppy defence and poor goalkeeping gave the hosts the lead in the first half. Fabio Borini and Luis Suarez missed good chances during the game. Suarez scored an equaliser for Liverpool later in the game.
The Reds are yet to win their first game of the Premiership season. In-form Manchester United will visit Anfield on September 23rd,2012.

Liverpool v Arsenal preview

Liverpool will return to premier league action on Sunday after their 2-1 aggregate win over Hearts in the Europa League. The Reds played a 2-2 draw against the reigning league champions last week. Arsenal played a goalless draw against Stoke City.

The two teams are seeking for their first league wins of the season. Liverpool made two errors against Manchester City last Sunday. Luis Suarez will be the star player for the Reds. He has scored in his last two matches against Man City and Hearts. Nuri Sahin is expected to make his debut for Brendan Rodgers' side. The Turkish international was in the middle of a transfer tussle between these two sides during the just concluded summer transfers.

Santi Cazorla and Mikel Arteta will be involved in a midfield war with Nuri Sahin,Joe Allen and Steven Gerrard. Rodgers seems to have embedded a 4-3-3 system into the Liverpool squad.

Oliver Giroud and Lukas Podolski are yet to score for the Gunners. Arsene Wenger's team have played barren draws in their opening two matches. Even though they might end their goal drought at Anfield, a victory looks unlikely. The Gunners will have to deal with the threat posed by Raheem Sterling,Luis Suarez and Nuri Sahin.
Kick off time: 12:30 UTC

Our prediction
Liverpool 3-1 Arsenal

Suarez fires Liverpool to Europa League group stage

Luis Suarez's last minute equaliser against Hearts of Scotland was enough to guarantee a ticket to the group stage of this season's Europa League. The Reds won the first leg by 1-0 in Edinburgh last week.

Brendan Rodgers paraded some members of his first team against the Scottish club on Thursday night. Reina,Kelly,Skrtel,Gerrard and Suarez were on the starting line up. Stewart Downing was used as a left back, while Morgan was the main striker.

The Reds dominated a larger part of the first half, but they were wasteful in front of goal. Morgan's first half goal was ruled out for offside.

In the second half, Suarez's effort came off the woodwork. The Uruguayan had enough time to score, but he delayed his shot and a Hearts defender deflected the ball to the post.

Raheem Sterling was introduced towards the end of the game as the 17 year old made some dazzling runs down the flank.

In the 84th minute Templeton's 35 yard shot was parried into the net by Pepe Reina. The Spaniard should have made a simple save.

Luis Suarez ensured the Reds didn't need an extra time to qualify when he scored a brilliant goal from a tight angle in the 87th minute.

Liverpool will now await the Europa League draws as they prepare to host Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.

Liverpool V Chelsea preview

The final of this year's English FA Cup will be played at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday between Liverpool and Chelsea. The Reds are seven time winners of this competition while the Blues have triumphed six times. Their last victory was in 2010 under the tutelage of Carlo Ancelotti who is currently in charge of Paris Saint Germain of France. This will be the third meeting between these two clubs in this outgoing season. The previous two games were played at the Stamford Bridge and Liverpool emerged victorious. The League match was won by two goals to nil while the Carling Cup tie ended 2-1 in favour of the Anfield club. Liverpool defeated Chelsea on their way to winning their last FA Cup title in 2006.
The two teams rested their top players in their last Premier League fixtures. Liverpool lost their first ever match against Fulham at Anfield. The Reds were unbeaten against Fulham at Anfield, but that record was shattered when Martin Skrtel scored an own goal on Tuesday night. Chelsea is on the verge of missing out of next season's UEFA Champions League. The Blues were beaten at the Stamford Bridge by Newcastle United on Wednesday night. The defeat means Chelsea's fate no more lies in their hands as they are now four points adrift of Spurs and Newcastle in the race for a top four finish. A win from either of these two teams in their remaining two matches will condemn Chelsea to Europa League next term. Liverpool have already booked their place in that competition after they defeated Cardiff City in February's League Cup final.
Gary Cahill and David Luiz are the major injury concerns of Roberto Di Matteo. On the other hand, Liverpool doesn't have any fresh injury concerns apart from Lucas Leiva and Charlie Adam that have been on the sidelines for a while.
