Suarez and Sturridge sinks Sunderland

Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge provided an enviable performance as Liverpool recorded their fourth victory in six matches.

The match was played at the Stadium of Light on Sunday evening. The home side played the match with a caretaker manager that was brought in to replace the sacked Paolo Di Canio who was fired last weekend.

The 'Black Cats' managed to get a draw in their first five matches prior to the defeat that they suffered on Sunday. The home side started on a very bright note by dominating the first 25 minutes of action.

In the 28th minute,Steven Gerrard's corner kick was poorly dealt with by Sunderland, but Daniel Sturridge managed to bundle the ball over the line with his biceps.

The Englishman provided an assist for Luis Suarez's first goal of the season. The former Chelsea and Man City winger was at the end of a successful counter attack and he provided a sublime pass that was slot into an empty net by Suarez.

After the restart, Sunderland pulled a goal back when Simon Mignolet parried a shot in the six hard box. The rebound was turned in due to a sloppy attitude from Liverpool defenders.

Luis Suarez made it 3-1 in the 89th minute after a counter attack that was initiated by Mignolet,a former Sunderland keeper. The Uruguayan striker picked the ball from his own half and picked out Sturridge on his left before a return pass was calmly slot into the net.

Suarez has now scored 7 goals in his 6 fixtures against Sunderland.

This is Liverpool's best start of the season since the 2008-09 campaign. Liverpool are now 2nd on the league table with 13 points and a +4 goal difference.

Meanwhile,Lucas Leiva will be suspended for the next match against Crystal Palace. The Brazilian picked his fifth yellow card of the season during Sunday's encounter.
