Messi and Musa score twice as Ecuador crashes out of Brazil 2014

Lionel Messi and Ahmed Musa both scored braces for their countries in Argentina's 3-2 win over Nigeria on Wednesday afternoon. The four times World best player scored his first goal of the game in the third minute. The Barcelona forward fired a loose ball into the net after Nigerian defenders failed to clear Angel Di Maria's shot.

A minute later, Ahmed Musa scored the equaliser for the reigning African champions. He received a pass from Michael Babatunde and curled in a shot round Romero that was in goal for the Argentines.

Messi made it 2-1 to Argentina shortly before the end of the first half. He curled a free kick over the defence wall and into the far corner of the Nigerian net.

Musa scored his brace within the opening minutes of the second half when he ran in between Argentine defenders before sending Romero the wrong way.

Rojo scored the winner for Argentina when the ball came off his knee after a corner kick was taken.

Argentina will face Switzerland in the round of 16 while Nigeria will meet France.

In group E, Ecuador were knocked out of the World cup after playing a goalless draw against France. The South Americans finished third in the group with 4 points.


Nigerians in Europe

With exactly two months to the commencement of the 2013 African Cup of Nations, Nigerians in Europe were spectacular over the weekend.

Ahmed Musa scored his eight league goal for Spartak Moscow in their 3-0 win over Perm. The Eagles winger is now the second top scorer in the Kremlin nation.

Obafemi Martins scored his fifth la liga goal for Levante. The ex-Inter striker seems to have put his disappointing national performance behind him. His club defeated Deportivo La Coruna 2-0.

Peter Odemwingie silenced the travelling Chelsea crowd at the Hawthorns. The West Bromwich player scored his side's second goal against Chelsea that paraded Mikel and Moses.

Ike Uche
The younger of the Uche brothers was the cynosure of all eyes in the Spanish Segunda division. Uche scored a brace to lift Villareal to the fourth position.

Rabiu scored a goal for Evian in the French Ligue 1.

The Super Eagles are expected to resume camping on December 17 in Faro,Portugal.

CSKA bows to Mourinho's men in Madrid.

CSKA Moscow of Russia are out of this season's UEFA Champions League. The Russian side travelled to Spain after a 1-1 draw was played at the Luzhniki stadium in the first leg. CSKA were very organized at the back in the opening 25 minutes of the game, while Nigerian International, Ahmed Musa's long range effort was the notable goal attempt the visitors had in the first half. Sami Khedira delivered an inch perfect pass to Kaka who set up Gonzalo Higuain for the first goal after 26 minutes. Chepchugov fumbled when Ronaldo fired a long range shot in the 55th minute. The ball bounced in front of him before sailing into the net to make it 2-0 to Real Madrid. Karim Benzema was introduced into the game after 70 minutes and the Frenchman made an instant impact by putting the game beyond CSKA Moscow by poking home a rebound that came off goal keeper, Chepchugov. Seven minutes on, Zoran Tosic cut in from the left flank before unleashing a shot that beat Iker Casillas from 21 yards. The Spanish keeper denied Tomas Necid from creating a panic in the Madrid team.
C.Ronaldo

Karim Benzema passed the ball to Christiano Ronaldo to score his 6th Champions League goal of the season in the final minute of the game. Jose Mourinho's frustration turned into joy at the end of the match.  At one point, the Portuguese manager was annoyed with his team's defence. Barcelona and Real Madrid are the two teams from the La liga that have made it to the last eight. The six other teams are from different countries.
